Thirty-First Shower-[Written, dated to be during Xion's battle]

[During Xion's all-out village fight, Kairi stayed behind with Sora in their apartment. Currently she's more or less keeping a vigil over the still unconcious brunette but she'll occasionally glance out the window to watch what's happening with everybody and Xion.]

Well, at least they're keeping it away from the village a bit. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be more worried about, the people fighting her, or the fact that they're trying to kill her.

~~Riku, you could have told me you were going to go before you just ran off.~~

I'm not even sure who's out there fighting, but knowing that Riku, Axel, and Roxas are out there definitely isn't that settling. Who knows who else is risking themselves right now?

I have no idea if the ones fighting her are going to have time to check this, but if you're reading this later? Let me know.

...well, that's just depressing. Um. Hey! What's everybody else doing? Somebody change the subject for me. ~~Please?~~

I might actually take you up on that. Maybe we can start a support group or something. [Except not.] Besides, Sora might need some cheering up too when he comes around.

[Welll yes that does help.] I'd really rather you not do that again either, just for the record. What was she fighting with though?

I can't remember if I've met Sora or not. [Maybe.] I'll bring some snacks.

[ Beware the giant wolf. You should see him now, Kairi. He's full size.] Well, that's just extra incentive not to. Next time someone has a weapon I'll run.

She had this huge sword.

I don't know either. I don't think so actually, but you should. [Because Kairi could use some sanity while dealing with the craziness that will be a Sora coming out of comatose and a Riku who's probably going to be developing PTSD.]

[A horse-sized wolf? She's not sure if that's a good or bad thing right now.] I knew you'd see it my way. I wonder where she got the sword from. It was a sword, right? Not a Keyblade?

Hey, any friend of yours could be a friend of mine. [ Jacob's all sanity. He'll be more than willing to turn on that inner sunshine and make everyone happy again.]

[Bit bigger than a horse now. Being the only wolf in Luceti as well as the alpha has made him a few hands higher than your biggest Shire Horse. Wolf back ride, anyone?] I wasn't really paying attention to the make of it, but it didn't look like any Key I've ever seen.

Sora's really sociable, you guys would get along really well. Especially since you already know Riku and me. [Kairi will definitely be calling upon Team Jacob for backup.]

[...that...is a large wolf. How is that even what in the hell wow.] That's probably a good thing, that means she's not using it anymore. Except now I wonder where it is.

Sounds great. Just tell me when you want me over and I'll be there will bells on. [Aw yeah, +1 to team Jacob. Take that Edward.]

[ Now imagine that thing running faster than the eye can follow and you've got Jacob. ] So the key is mightier than the sword? That's a new one.

If it's okay with the boys, probably a day or so after Sora wakes up. You'll definitely know when he does.

[...Jacob has just earned +100 actually, just for that.] Something like that! The Keyblade's really powerful, especially when you start using different keychains on it. That's something you can ask Sora, but probably not anytime soon...it's sort of what got us into this mess.

I'll start stocking up on the junk food now.

[ seriously, some day he needs to give her a ride. it will be the most amazing thing ever. ] Riku said something about that... Xion got in contact with it and it started to mess her up, right?

I knew I could count on you.

[...this needs to happen sometime in the nearby future, seriously.] Yeah, exactly. Sora gave it to her to fight with, but after she touched it she started accidentally draining him of his strength basically. There wasn't anything we could do to stop it either, it just kept happening. She seemed to know that she had to die, which I guess means she knew she was going to turn into that.

But besides that, it's a good weapon. Riku can wield one too, but not this Riku yet. Sora and I are a year ahead of him still and he can in our time. I can too, but mine's not here. And Roxas can wield two of them.

That's what I'm here for.

[ Totally. He'll do it to cheer her up if he has to.] Maybe the Malnosso will take away her ability to touch it. That might just save us from any further trouble... [A low sigh.] That's awful. [You can bet he's adding Xion's name to the list of people he's going to cheer up.]

Wow. [That's got to be all kinds of awkward for Riku.] I'm guessing it's not just a new sword style. What do they do, exactly?

[That might have to be really soon then with this huge mess.] The Malnosso try to take away stuff that people will miss, don't they? I would love it if that's what they chose, but...[She just shakes her head and clears her throat.] Yeah, it is. And I know she's going to blame herself for what's happened because of what Riku and I have been talking about, and I hate that. ...it's weird though. She still doesn't feel comfortable talking to me, I think.

Yeah. Sora and I try not to talk about it too much with him because it's just...it's not cool, at all. At least I think he's better with handling it now after a year. [She'd hope, anyway.] The Keyblade basically works like a sword, but it can also be used to project elemental magic. Sora used his to go across the galaxy and lock up each world to prevent the Heartless and Nobodies from attacking them.

[You can bet he's already thinking about it.] That's true, but they'd probably take away something that's potentially dangerous. Xion changing into that again could deplete their troops, and they really wouldn't like that. They need everyone they can get out on that battlefield. [He grimaces at the memory. ] When she comes back she's going to need a lot of support.... oh? I can't imagine anyone being uncomfortable talking to you.

[Oh, well.] I've been down that road. You know it's going to happen, and it's just a matter of time, but you're stuck because it hasn't yet. [Oh. He feels a pang of homesickness. He misses his own best friends.] Across the galaxy? Seriously?

[Huh.] Haven't heard those words before.

[Good boy.] That's...actually something I didn't think about, but you're right. Her having that power would ruin a lot for them. Maybe we'll all luck out in the end after all. [She hums in agreement though.] Definitely. I know the boys are definitely going to, and all of her friends too. And I can try, but. [Oh...ohhh wait.] ...um. Jake? Has anyone ever told you who Xion is?

I still feel bad about it sometimes because I know it frustrates him. Sora and I aren't making it any easier, but he's doing what he can to deal. And to be honest? I'm glad he's this way. I'm glad he's not the Riku who's from the same time as me and Sora. Not sure if he knows that though. Yeah, Sora's traveled to all kinds of different worlds. Dozens, actually. You should ask him about it when he's feeling up to it, I don't know that much about it. I've only been to a few. Riku's traveled a lot too, but it was later in life.

Which words?

I could be wrong, but if I were them? I wouldn't want something with those powers running unchained. Even my powers were slightly dampened. I used to be able to phase like [he snaps his fingers that, but it takes longer now. [Though, they couldn't really do anything about natural growth or hyper speed.] Aside from her status as Riku's girlfriend? Nope.

I take it he's got some rough times ahead? [Like Bella.] I'll definitely do that. You know, I came to accept vampires and werewolves were real because they practically slapped me in the face, but until I came here I wasn't sold on the aliens. I'm never going to doubt the internet again.

Nobody and Heartless. [The snapshot totally shows him airquoting. Come to think of it, someone might have mentioned it before.] I've got a feeling that they're the capitalized kind, not the insult kind.

It's a pain that they have the power level capped off, but in cases like these? I think it's for the best. But you're right, I wouldn't want something running unchained either if it attacked like that. [Oooh boy.] Well...it's a really long story if you're interested. And kind of complicated.

Yeah...definitely. Sora was on the path of light, so somebody had to take the path of darkness. He...after everything that's happened? He's not the same anymore. I've missed the old Riku, so having him here isn't bad at all. [She laughs gently at that though.] If it helps, I didn't believe Santa was real until Sora gave me proof. I'm not sure that qualifies as being an alien though.

Oh, right. You got it in one, they're the capitalized kind. They're more or less monsters that Sora's been fighting. Riku too, technically. Heartless are creatures that are born from the darkness in people's hearts. When a person's hearts consumed by that darkness, the Heartless is born in their place. They're kind of creepy-looking actually. [Give her a second and she's doodling on the page for him a picture of a Shadow Heartless.] There are a lot of different kinds, but those seem to be the most common.

Of course when the Heartless are created, there's the leftovers that stay behind. The body and soul basically...they become a Nobody. There're lots of those around too, different kinds, but some are a lot more advanced than others. Instead of just being creatures and monsters, Nobodies can actually look like people. Only the strongest can do that though. Does that make sense?

No arguments here. I'd much rather be a slow wolf than a dead one. [Huh.] I've got the time. Does this count as uncovering your deep dark secrets?

That makes sense. [They fight with keys. He's rolling with it.] For all the crap this place puts us through, at least it gives us a chance to live semi-normal lives. I bet he gets that. [Waaat] Santa's real?!

... It looks kind of like a bug. [Huh.] So if someone does evil things, they turn into one of those?

Yeah, I think I got it.

And another coincidence, I'd rather you be slow than dead too. But I think that can be said for anybody here with a bit of power. [She laughs a little bit.] Yeah, I guess it does since even I didn't know this one until a few months ago.

It's helpful, and without the experiments going or monsters tearing through the village, it's almost like a vacation. I hope he does. [...pff. He sounds like Sora a bit.] Yeah, Sora got to go to Christmas Town and he met him!

They're...actually kind of cute, but I might be a little biased because Sora got turned into one once. But yeah that's basically it. If they have a lot of evil going on it eventually overwhelms them and consumes them completely.

Okay, so now that you know about the Heartless and Nobodies, this is going to be easier to explain. So there were these guys right, this group of people who worked under a leader to research about the heart and eventually about how darkness effected the heart more or less. There's more to it than that but for simplicity sake, just know that. The research backfired and consumed them, and they were turned into Heartless.

However, their bodies and souls were still strong and so they turned into Nobodies. This particular group of Nobodies were so human-like that most of the time you can't even tell just from looking at talking to them. They eventually formed a group together, called it Organization XIII. They had this goal to get their hearts back and become whole beings again. As Nobodies, they have the body and soul so they can move and they have thoughts and life, but without a heart they supposedly can't feel anything. No emotions at all. So what happened was that in order to get their hearts back, the Organization thought that this meant that they had to collect hearts, so they started trying to use Sora and the Keyblade? I don't know, this is all second-hand to me because at the time I was stuck waiting at home.

Anyway...you'd be surprised. I bet you even know a Nobody or two. [She's aware she hasn't gotten to the part about Xion yet, but background. Jake needed it.] Actually, I know you do.

They say great minds think alike. [He chuckles.] Awesome. Now we're starting to get a little more even in the secret-sharing. I can tell you I still like to wear footie pajamas. It's kind of hard to do since there's nothing in my size but I've learned to adapt. Maybe Santa can bring me some

[And he'll drop into quiet listening mode as she goes over the situation.] Sounds complicated.

[...way to go, Jake, you made her laugh.] Well what's better than having built-in slippers? But you've got a point, now we're getting a little more even.

It's ridiculously complicated, and Sora and the actual Nobodies knows a lot more about it than I do. I just get it all second-hand.

...definitely. Xion's one. So are Roxas, Axel, Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, and Lexaeus, but I don't know if you've met any of them. Or if you were ever here when Naminé was.

[ Ball of love and sun. ] Built in slippers are the best. It's just a shame how fast I've been going through clothes lately.

Maybe I'll ask about that sometime.

... Really? I've seen most of them around. You'd never guess...

[And fluff.] And what's the reasoning behind that?

You may as well, I know Xion didn't really mind explaining but with everything that's happened...might be good to wait.

Exactly, you'd never guess. The thing is that Xion's different than most Nobodies. She's a really special case. Unlike Roxas who's actually directly from Sora, she was created a little...differently.

[ Yup, lots of that too. ] Nothing fits anymore... but I think it's stopped now.

Yeah. I'd rather not stress anyone out.

[Huh.] Differently, huh.

On the plus side, you don't have to pay for clothes here?

Like you could be stressful to anybody. You're Jake, you're everything mostly positive in the world.

Differently. Remember how I said that Nobodies are created from a person losing their heart and being the remaining body and soul? Xion wasn't born like that. She was actually made by a few other Nobodies from the Organization. [The tone in her voice suggests there's a lot more to it than that, but she's waiting to break the news]

That's a bonus. My dad would do his little wheelie-dance if he heard that.

[Oh, that gets a dark chuckle.] You'd be surprised.

... That sounds like an awful way to come into the world.

Your dad and mine both. [Well, the mayor. Whatever.]

I don't want to know! Maybe someday, but let me keep the positivity idea for now.

It was. For her, I mean, I wouldn't know anything about it. From what I know about it, she was created in case both Sora and Roxas didn't go through with the plans that the Organization had for her. She was supposed to be a replica of Roxas made based on Sora's memories, but...she kind of ended up looking like me instead. Looked and sounded like me because that's what Sora's memories were, I guess.
