[Today if anyone's wandering into Seventh Heaven, they'll find Kairi sitting at a table by herself. Thanks to Sanji, she's agreed to pick up a few shifts at the restaurant as a part-time waitress. She's just finished her shift for the day and she's got her Luceti-provided journal open in front of her, along with a sheet of what looks like purple paper. She had leafed through the pages of the Luceti journal, checking on the village, but now she's occasionally writing lines on the purple page. If anyone were to get close enough to look, they'd see:

Thinking of you, wherever you are. It's been a little over two months since you left...almost three, actually, but I still think about you every day. I think we all do.

[She pauses in her writing then upon realizing two things. A.) This is very much like a letter she wrote to Sora about fifteen months ago and B.) It's been almost three months since the brunette left. It felt weird the longer she thought about it, thinking about how close she had become to some people and how distant she was starting to feel from the boy who was...no, is her best friend.

It disturbs her, in a way. Enough to cause her to push the letter aside, turning her attention back to her Luceti-journal to address the public. Her voice is pretty casual, but anyone who knows her well enough may notice there's a slight hesitance.]

[Voice]

What would you consider a good balance between making a life here in Luceti and keeping your life in your own world in focus? I mean in the sense of...well...let's talk about jobs for instance. Do you think it's important to make yourself useful here, or would you rather wait until you go home since it may not matter once we leave anyway?

Or friends, even. Do you only call people from your world your best friends, or have you made new best friends here?

[She pauses, trying to think of how to wrap this up. Keep it casual, keep it light.] It's not really a big deal, I'm just kind of curious what everyone thinks.

Friends of yours from home, I take it. I guess I shouldn't say "glad to hear it", but it is nice to know you're not alone.

Have the three of you found ways to keep yourselves busy?

[Rue makes a small sound of affirmation. She knows Katniss isn't happy Peeta is here, and Luceti really isn't that much different from Panem; nicer since there's no need to fight over food, but it's just a different kind of game. Still, Rue wouldn't deny she's happy to see them.]

Katniss hunts! She's been teaching me how to set traps and fire a bow too.

[She just blinks for a moment. Wow, starting her off that early, huh Katniss? It's not too bad of an idea considering what Luceti can pull, but it's still kind of surprising.]

Is she good at it?

[And yet no so surprising in Panem, where children learn how to fight and die long before they ever learn how to live.]

Uh-huh! She's got at hunting all sorts of things! Birds, squirrels, she even got a deer once!

A deer? [Wow Kairi hadn't even been aware there were deer in the forest, but she's not the type to actively look.] That is pretty impressive. Sounds like you're in really good hands.

Yep! We're in the village now so we can use the grocery store, but it's still nice getting fresh meat and plants. Peeta is a good baker too!

At least you've got all of your bases covered. ...wait, where were you guys before you moved into the village?

We lived in the treehouse village!

[She has to think that over to make sure she heard right.] Treehouse village? I didn't even know we had one.

It's by the lake to the west, but it's very well hidden.

It must be if I didn't even know it was there. What made you change your mind about living there though?

Peeta says it'd be better for us to be closer to the village. Safer that way.

Well he's definitely got a point. You guys really should be closer in case another experiment hits soon, or if one of you gets hurt. It's good to have back-up.

I guess there re's no avoiding the experiments, even if you're out in the forest. [But the droids can still be avoided, that's something Rue is certain of.]

People have tried to hide from them, but somehow they're still found. But then again? There are some people right in plain sight that the experiments will sometimes avoid.

[Like Katniss. They'd been out in the forest and Katniss had been effected while Rue was unaffected. It's like the reaping in a lot of ways. Some people had lots and lots of entries and were never picked, while a little girl from District Twelve with one entry was selected.]

I guess it's all down to luck then.

Not sure if luck's the right word, but it's a start. All I'm saying is that it's best to be prepared no matter what.

I guess so. You never know what they could throw at you next.

[She pauses for a few seconds before changing the second.]

Oh. Um. [Well, she hadn't quite prepared for this.] I think it's really important to do something here. Sometimes waiting isn't good enough...this is one of those times.

Have you been doing anything around here?

Not until recently, I'll admit it. I guess I've gotten sort of lazy.

I think everyone needs to be lazy now and then. But you're still doing something?

I'm working. Come by Seventh Heaven sometime. It's all I can do right now while I train on the side for the next draft, whenever that may be.

I will! I really like it there, the food is real good.

[A beat, then her voice comes in a little quieter.]

Do you think there'll be another draft?

Sanji's a great cook. I'm almost kind of sad he's not staying at our house anymore.

...I don't know when, but I can almost count on it.
