Thirty-Eighth Shower - [Voice]

[Don't mind her, she's just grumbling to herself a little.] Vanitas is wrong. Valentine's Day is still special, even if a person doesn't have someone else to celebrate it with. It's seeing everybody else happy that makes it worth it some days. [But she's done fuming about it. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts.]

You know, I kind of miss the day-after sales on holiday candy back home. With everything being free here, it's not quite the same.

Anyway, hope everybody had a nice holiday! From the sounds of it a lot of you really are getting into the spirit of things. It's great. What was the best thing about yesterday for those of you who celebrated? I think mine was just seeing love in the air.

I think I've spoiled myself with this box of chocolates though.

...hey Aqua, are you busy? I thought maybe we could get started on that thing you and I talked about a while ago.

What a plan. But you're right, this is Sora. [Still, they enjoy him. She's going to keep wandering through to check the shop.]

Did he ever get to meet him?

Beats me. I guess I could ask him about it.

[Yes, he'll skim some of the shelves as well.]

...hey Riku? Can I ask you something? And I mean something that might sound really weird, but I want to make sure it's not just me.

[He shrugs.]

...do you think Sora remembers anything at all from the last time he was here? Like a subconscious thing. [Like about their relationship at all.]

[...Of course. It was bound to come up eventually.

For a moment, Riku's completely silent. Then, he shakes his head.]

I doubt it, Kairi. If he did remember, don't you think we'd know by now?

Maybe...but I mean, maybe it just takes a while. He hasn't been here that long, remember? Maybe it'll come back to him. Look at Axel and Roxas. They didn't remember memories of Xion for years.

But that has to do with what Xion is, Kairi.

[A replica made of memories... If she died, then it makes sense for her to be forgotten.

Sighing, Riku turns away from the store shelves.]

I know it's hard, Kairi, but I think it's better if we expect the worst. And if he does remember, that's great, but most people who come back to Luceti never get those memories back.

I know, I know! [Damn it, the whole thing was pretty frustrating. This is the fourth time Sora's been to Luceti, the fourth time she's had to deal with him forgetting memories. But...this is the first time certain factors have come into play.]

I'm wondering if he'd be affected if certain things happened, that's all.

Certain things?

[...Hmm. Now that's interesting.]

Depends on what those things are, Kairi.

Well, you know, just things involving people Sora hasn't exactly met yet. That makes sense, right? [This is going to get awkward fast, isn't it?]

It's Jacob, isn't it?

You mean it wasn't obvious?

[He shakes his head.]

You two have been pretty close for a while, plus there was that experiment a while back.

[Turning into Jacob in a love-based experiment? Yeeeah, obvious.]

...so maybe it was a little obvious. Jacob's one of my best friends, almost up there with you two. That's why I'm just wondering. [Riku, if you have thoughts on this now would be a good time to say so.]

Doesn't bother me.

[He shrugs. Kairi's lovelife isn't really his concern. Is she still important to him? Absolutely, but like hell he'd force himself on her, especially between what happened with Xion and Sora's memory loss.]

If that's how you feel, then go for it. Just... be careful about Sora. I'm not sure how he'll take it.

That's what I'm worried about. How he'll take it. You I know could handle it, and I would think Sora would, but...he hasn't even fought the final fight, has he? He's so far behind. It's just another one of those situations where time makes everything weird.

Might want to take it slow. We've still got a lot of catching up to do, and we don't want to overwhelm him, right?

[Sigh. Why's everything got to be so complicated?]

I'm not saying don't tell him, but you might want to wait a bit.

I wasn't going to tell him right away. I don't know. When did everything become so complicated? Over the last two or three years, we all finally started making friends that we haven't known our entire lives. And now that we have, things are starting to come up that we've never really had to figure out before...like Jake.

You're sure it doesn't bother you?

[Another shrug.]

Look, it's none of my business who you like. If it makes you happy, I'm not about to get in the way.
